Your Home is a Reflection of You!
When I first heard these words I hated what I saw! WORK was everywhere; spread out all over my house, papers were stacked sorted and piled everywhere, including my bed. Overwhelmed at first, I vowed to make Major life changes.
Most of us need changes to make our homes the home of our dreams and often our homes are best as works in progress. The perfect home evolves when we remain open and flexible to change and our family needs. To begin, the most important step is the first one; just BEGIN!
Take some quiet time (what's that?) and think about the word that describes the feel of your home. Is it the feeling that you want your home to be? Is your home warm and inviting? Is it a place that your family can retreat for quiet and comfort or is it an extension of the daily chaos filled with clutter? Our homes should be a safe haven where we can escape at the end of the day from the crazies of the outside world.
1. Decide on a room, then a portion of the room, and then a project, but just start somewhere on something.
2. Make a list. Sometimes my lists are so long or big that I roll out paper on the floor to make certain I have enough space! Everyone laughs but it works for me! Leave the list where you can see it and add to it or edit over the course of a few days. It's a perfect place to begin. You could use the computer to save space for ease in making changes and edits. Whatever works for you, JUST START.
3. The next step is to gather inspiration. we can find inspireation in so many places, so think about your favorite place to be. Many of us love and are inspired by nature and spending time outdoors. Begin gathering picutes of things that you love. 4. Pull pages out of the magazines or ads that speak to your heart because of color, design or an overall feel. Place them in a folder or better yet, glue them to a page in a note book or journnal and make notes regarding what you like about the photo.
These are ideas that will help you define your style and complete the transformation of your home.
